Unveiling the Breath, written by Bridges’ founder, Donna Kennedy-Glans, incorporates East-West perspectives on faith and feminism, male and female points of view, ways to reconcile spirituality and patriarchy, and the issues involved in raising sons. In doing so, the book peels back the “Gender Onion” starting from the outer, more secular layers of our globalizing world – the workplace and communities – to the inner core of our private world of faith, spirituality and family. In exploring the quandaries of gender in both East and West, the author perceives more similarities than differences. Many of the stories told in Unveiling the Breath are based in Yemen, a country very near and dear to the heart of Bridges, and several of the stories involve Bridges volunteers directly. Use the tools below to guide you through an exploration of your own “Gender Onion”.
