In 2008, Bridges initiated the Unveiling Youth Potential program, a global youth empowerment program aimed at realizing the leadership potential of youth. The focus of the program is on young people because they represent the demographic that offers the greatest hope for global change. They transcend societal, cultural, governmental and institutional barriers to enliven the wisdom of individual communities across the world. Youth are open to connecting with their peers in communities world-wide for support, shared learning and greater impact.
The Unveiling Youth Potential program consists of three main phases:
- The youth engagement phase is when Bridges is invited into a community to engage with youth and discern community issues.
- The youth leadership phase is when Bridges’ volunteer experts, trained in the areas of personal leadership, community mapping, change leadership and social entrepreneurship, conduct two experiential, tailored workshops for interested youth participants. By the end of these two workshops, each youth leader will create and leave with a completed social entrepreneurial project proposal.
- The youth entrepreneurship phase sees youth participants partnered with Canadian adult mentors who will provide genuine mentorship, coaching, and support for the youth as they take on their social entrepreneurial projects.
