In 2003, Bridges was invited to partner with a Yemeni law firm to support the training of lawyers and judges in the Aden Bar Association. This partnership continued for several years with Bridges supporting leadership and professional training of male and female lawyers and judges in Yemen, including support to the creation of an informal network for female lawyers – the “Inspiring Females in Law” program.
Since then, Bridges has been invited to bring expert legal training teams back to Yemen, and to areas of Nepal to train members of their respective Bar Associations and local arbitration and mediation centres. This training includes: mediation and alternative dispute resolution; ethics in law; defining lawyers’ and judges’ role in responding to the needs of the vulnerable in their communities; and work-life balance issues. These training teams have included some of Canada’s finest lawyers, expert mediators, and individuals working within the field of ethics and law.
