Training Professional & Community Leaders

Bridges’ volunteers provide human-to-human training and mentorship programs for their counterparts in other countries. Nurses train nurses; lawyers train lawyers; journalists train journalists. We have no ideological, faith bias or political advocacy; we simply care about human engagement and capacity building. These training programs focus on two aspects, combining the “what” and the “how” of project work through:

  • Professional and/or technical training and education combined with management and leadership training;
  • Training that includes males and females;
  • Training that is often multi-disciplinary;
  • Training that is structured appropriately for the profession and age group of the trainees; and
  • Open-source training materials.

Bridges’ expert trainers are also educated in mentorship, in order that genuine, trusting relationships can develop between the trainers and their trainees. We believe that this training and mentoring model results in sustained impacts, and is mutually respectful of local and Canadian expertise.  As well, elements of leadership and management training are included in all of the courses offered by Bridges. This can include a wide cross-section of expertise, including:
