Re: “Child bride dies of internal bleeding in Yemen,” Herald Online, April 8.

Like most Yemeni people, I condemn crimes committed against a child. Although marriage under age is common in Yemen, child brides are not part of the Yemeni culture. According to the Yemeni Polling Centre, 63.3 percent of Yemeni men and 83.4 percent of Yemeni women support legally fixing a marriage age for girls. Child brides are also not part of Islamic tradition.
